Eileen Gray Side Table

Overview

Eileen Gray Side Table. Inspired by the designer: Eileen Gray.

Description

This height-adjustable table from 1927 is one of Eileen Gray's most rational designs and reflects her desire for functional perfection. Originally conceived as a bedside table for the guest room in Gray’s famous E. 1027 house in Cap Martin (her sister was fond of breakfast in bed), it is also useful as a side table in living rooms, office reception areas or, (thanks to durable materials), on the terrace. Its purist aesthetic complements a wide range of furnishings and settings.

Eileen-Gray-Bibendum-Chair

Overview

Eileen Gray Bibendum Chair. Inspired by the designer: Eileen Gray.

Description

Designed by Eileen Gray in the early 1900s, the Bibendum chair was forgot ten until an original surfaced in a 1972 auction prompting a new production of this design classic.

The impact of such designers as Le Corbusier, Jean Badovici and Marcel Breuer on Eileen Gray’s life can be seen through many of her designs that were installed at the E-1027 house in Roquebrune, near Monaco. This famed Bibendum chair and adjustable glass table were two of the furniture pieces that were designed specifically for this home.

The Eileen Gray Bibendum chair, named by Gray herself, joins the cigarette table as one of her most widely recognized designs. It is one of several designs that typify Gray's opulent take on the stark modernist aesthetic.
